Guaro is easy to get to. From Malaga: take the A357, then turn left along the A337 through Coin, continuing until a signpost indicates a left turn along the MA413; From Marbella: take the A355 past Ojen, then turn left along the MA419; From Ronda: take the A366, then turn right along the MA413. Whatever route you take, you will be stunned by the incredible mountain views in all directions. In spring the air is reputedly thick with the lovely aroma of almond blossoms and in summer the atmosphere is charged, the heat haze shimmering and bending the countryside with artistic licence, a time when travelling in a car without air conditioning is not only inadvisable, but should be illegal! During the autumn the softer shades of light and cooling breezes are most appealing and winter too can be spectacular, the snow covered mountains sometimes attracting sightseers from all around.

And the village of Guaro itself? What is there for the visitor? My Spanish friend would probably say 'Nothing,' and, in a sense, he may be right, that is if you have no regard for pretty, quiet streets lined with palm trees, flowers, a fountain at each end of the town, intriguing architecture, both old and new, roadside benches for rest and contemplation and, very important for me, in contrast to the bedlam of some of the more densely populated villages, absolute peace and tranquillity.

The middle two weekends of September are very different, the town hosting the Luna Mora Fiesta, when thousands of visitors flood the area, with buses ferrying visitors in from huge carparks on the outskirts of the pueblo. During the day there are Moroccan markets and at night the only light is by candles, which line the streets.

There are many little bars and restaurants and even a disco for those determined for some reason to shake off the feeling of total serenity, although if you value unbridled charm, friendliness and perhaps the most delicious examples of authentic Spanish cooking in the whole of Andalucia.

We also have properties in a more traditional inland area where we live called the Sierra de Las Nieves. This area whilst feeling remote and tradtional, filled with Olive Almond Orange and Lemon trees is just 20 minutes from Marbella as well.
